Obama takes healthcare battle to the public

Having had to force his healthcare bill through Congress, Obama must now sell the reform to an American public that is still largely sceptical.

That political battle promises to be as tough as the one he has just won in Congress and he wasted no time in getting started. Shortly after the House vote, he told the public:

“After nearly 100 years of talk and frustration, after decades of trying and a year of sustained effort and debate, the US Congress finally declared that America’s workers and America’s families and America’s small businesses deserve the security of knowing that, here in this country, neither illness nor accident should endanger the dreams they have worked a lifetime to achieve.”
