Troops in Chile are preparing for another curfew as a wave of looting continues in the wake of Saturday’s devastating earthquake.
The streets in the country’s second-biggest city, Concepcion, were left deserted after authorities extended movement restriction until midday.
In some areas however people took the law into their own hands to protect their homes and local stores from being striped.
“We need to defend ourselves with sticks and whatever we have in our hands, every now and again we hear shots fired, this situation is terrible,” said one resident.
Authorities are not only having to contain with a rising crimewave.
Strong aftershocks are continuing to rock the worst affected areas making the delicate search for survivors even more dangerous.
