Russia still top oil producer

Latest figures show that Russia remains the only country pumping more than 10 million barrels of crude a day.

Russia has overtaken Saudi Arabia as the world’s number one producer.

In January however production did edge down slightly to 10.04 million barrels per day.

The Russian economy is heavily dependent on energy exports and the biggest producer – state run Rosneft – said it will continue to increase production this year.
