International airlines suffer worst slump since World War II

International airlines last year suffered their biggest decline in traffic since 1945, figures from the International Air Transport Association have revealed.

Passenger demand fell by 3.5 per cent in 2009, while freight also fell by 10.1 per cent

However the last months of the year saw a bounce back, and the IATA is forecasting a gradual return to profitability this year.
