Fiat sales kept alive by government efforts

Italian car-maker Fiat has beaten profit forecasts with its financial results for last year, thanks largely to government incentives. It sold 1.84 million Fiats, Lancias or Alfa Romeos in 2009, or 5.7 percent more than the previous year.
Looking ahead, the company warned that profits for this year will suffer if government car scrappage schemes end.
