Quake survivors robbed of aid in Haiti

An illustration of the problems of aid distribution in Haiti came with the latest pictures which arrived this morning.

An aid distribution centre run by US Aid in Port au Prince was all but stormed by force by a crowd of hungry people when news got out food had arrived.

It was every man for himself, but this was no collapse of public order, as those queueing for aid packages or attempting to leave with them were brushed aside by a gang of stick-weilding men who then took their vital supplies for themselves, the police seemingly powerless to prevent them.
