Despite an increase in the amount of aid reaching Haiti, it is still not enough to deal with the number of people who need it. More supplies are now getting to people outside the capital. In Carrefour, a large warehouse run by the UN’s World Food Programme provided aid to over 10,000 people on Saturday.
More aftershocks from the earthquake are hampering rescue efforts, as well as terrifying already traumatised people. Nevertheless, the search for survivors continues as people are still being found alive. On Saturday, a Russian team found two girls – one aged nine, the other 11 years old. They were buried under the rubble of a collapsed house. Teams are working day and night to find others.
