Togo has held the funerals of the two members of its national football team murdered in a gun attack last week.
The country’s President and prime minister were in attendance in the Togolese capital Lome, along with the squad’s players, including Manchester City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
The West African state declared three days of mourning in the wake of the ambush, which left the team’s assistant manager, press officer and bus driver dead. It also led to Togo pulling out of the African Nations Cup, despite later trying to re-enter.
Separatist rebels in Angola’s oil-rich Cabinda region say they were behind the shooting which also left a number of players seriously injured. On Monday, Angola said it had arrested two people suspected of taking part in the attack.
