The head of General Motors Europe has warned workers at Opel and its sister brand in the UK Vauxhall of challenging times ahead.

GM Europe president Nick Reilly said the overhaul of Opel and Vauxhall will include job cuts.

In a blog addressing employees Reilly talked of “tough reality” adding: “We must work fast to reduce our capacity, while maintaining productivity and quality.”

In addition to cuts, Reilly said GM Europe will launch seven new products this year.
