Israeli air strikes target sites in Gaza

Israel has launched a series of air strikes on the Gaza Strip, killing at least one person and wounding two others.

The strikes happened close to Gaza’s border with Egypt after Israeli aircraft targeted two tunnels used to bring contraband into the blockaded strip.

Hamas says targets were also hit near Gaza City and Kahn Younis.

The air raids follow Israeli claims that a dozen mortars and rockets were fired from the Hamas-run territory into Israel. No casualties have been reported.

The number of attacks on southern Israel have risen in the past few weeks after a period of relative calm since the Gaza war.
