Six Coptic Christians and a Muslim policeman have been killed in a drive-by shooting in Egypt.
Another nine Copts – Egyptian Christians – were wounded in the attack after midnight mass in the town of Nagaa Hamady.
A gunman opened fire from a car as worshippers left church following the service on Coptic Christmas Eve.
Authorities believe it was a revenge attack for the alleged rape of a 12-year-old Muslim girl by a Christian man.
After the shooting, Coptic Christians gathered to protest and clashes broke out with police.
Christians account for about 10 percent of Egypt’s population.
