Suicide bomber kills six in Russia's Dagestan

A suicide attacker has killed at least six policemen and injured over a dozen more in Russia’s troubled southern region of Dagestan.
A car packed with explosives blew up at the entrance to a traffic police depot on the outskirts of the republic’s capital, Makhachkala. The bomber had apparently tried to drive through the compound but his vehicle was rammed by a police jeep before exploding.
Russia is fighting an Islamist insurgency in the North Caucasus. President Dmitry Medvedev says the upsurge of violence over recent months is the country’s single biggest domestic problem.
