A gang of armed robbers has stolen several million euros from a security van in France.
Footage showed the gang blocking off the vehicle outside a depot near the southern city of Marseilles. It was about to deliver money to a local bank.
After setting fire to the crime scene, the thieves made their getaway in several vehicles, including a police car.
In what was described as a commando-style operation, eyewitnesses spoke of the robbers, all armed with machine guns, blocking off surrounding roads.
Several vehicles used by the thieves were later found burnt out. Authorities claim the group of about 10 men made off with between four and five million euros.
It is being reported that the armoured security van contained around eight million, but the gang was only able to break into two of the vehicle’s four safes.
