Spanish shoppers spurn spending

The cash in Spain stayed mainly in people’s wallets in November.

Retail sales figures for the month show little sign of consumer demand perking up.

They dropped 5.5 percent year-on-year and 4.3 percent adjusted for inflation.

That was the steepest fall since May and Spaniards particularly held off from buying big ticket items such as household goods.
