Iranians living in exile have been holding protests in numerous capitals around the world, condemning the violence in Tehran.
One of the demonstrations was in Berlin, where the German Chancellor condemned what she called the “unacceptable” use of force by the Iranian security services.
The US and the European Union have also condemned the crackdown, with Washington describing it as “unjust suppression”. Russia said it was “concerned” and called for “restraint”.
France condemned what it called “arbitary” arrests and violence, and said “stepping up repression will lead to nothing”.
The British government said the latest developments were troubling, especially what it called the lack of restraint. It also talked about the “enormous courage” of the protesters.
