Deadly bomb attack on Pakistani procession

At least 30 people have been killed in a suspected suicide bomb attack on a Shi’ite Muslim procession in Pakistan.

The blast in Karachi came at the end of an event to mark Ashura, the Shi’ite calendar’s biggest event.

At least 30 people are reported to have been wounded.

This is the latest in a series of bomb attacks that have killed hundreds of Pakistanis.

The country is struggling to deal with al-Qaeda-linked militants. It is also under pressure to help stabilise neighbouring Afghanistan, which is facing a Taliban insurgency.
