Climate summit: nothing but ‘hot air’

The climate change summit is being accused of producing nothing but hot air, as two weeks of talks in Copenhagen stood on the brink of failure.

Progress has been made in some areas, but gaps remain over emissions targets, compensation and independent monitoring. 

Critics blamed the world’s biggest greenhouse gas emitters, the United States and China, for the impasse. The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon called for nations to be united, and act quickly.
