Ecofriendly vehicles are a key issue on CO2 emission reduction, and also today’s question on Talk Planet.
In Copenhagen, a city famous for its pushbikes, one bicycle recycler is hoping to send his specially adapted machines to Africa, where they will be used as ambulances and water carriers. He wanted to ask experts what transportation will be like 30 years from now. On his behalf, Euronews put the question to Anders Quitzau, Innovation Chief Technologist at IBM. This is what he answered:
“Well, projecting about technology in 30 years’ time is difficult. But I think when it comes to vehicles one thing that is crucial here is really the technology that is going to power these cars,” he said.
“The crucial thing here is how can we make this power coming from renewable and sustainable sources?
“And this is really what we are trying to develop here in Denmark, for instance with the project we have in Bornholm, the Edison project, where we try to maximise the share of wind power that we use for charging the electrical vehicles,” he explained.
