UK jobless figures fall

The number of Britons claiming unemployment benefit fell in November for the first time in almost two years.

The Office for National Statistics said the total dropped by 6,300.

In the third quarter, the number of people without a job – using International Labour Organisation measurements – rose, but by the smallest amount since the spring of 2008.

The UK jobless rate remained at 7.9 percent.
