Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is to remain in the Milan hospital where he is recovering from an assault that left him with a broken nose and two broken teeth.
He was due to be discharged earlier today.
It comes just hours after police say they arrested a 26-year-old man for attempting to gain entry into prime minister room.
Berlusconi was attacked while signing autographs after a political rally in Milan, when a man threw a model of the city’s cathedral into his face.
People close to the politician say he has been badly shaken by the incident.
Meanwhile, Berlusconi’s political allies have condemned the internet support for his alleged attacker Massimio Tartaglia.
