Bomb find prompts Russia-Armenia gas cut

Russia cut off gas supplies to Armenia overnight as a safety precaution after explosive devices were found near a pipeline.

The discovery was made in Russia’s Ingushetia region, the scene of several recent attacks by Islamist rebels.

The pipeline feeds Ingushetia and another Russian region, North Ossetia, as well as Russian ally Armenia.

Armenia’s gas importer said it had enough in reserve and that its customers face no shortage.

Supply resumed again this morning once the devices had been defused and authorities were satisfied the area was clear.
