A fifth of jobs could be cut at Opel

Up to 9,500 European jobs could be cut at car-maker Opel, if General Motors implement their reorganisation plan.

That adds up to nearly 20 per cent of the workforce. General Motors has said in the past that up to 10,000 jobs would go at Opel and its British arm, Vauxhall. Plans to sell another of its ailing brands have fallen through. Swedish speciality car-maker, Koenigsegg, have pulled out of a deal to buy Saab.
