The European Partnership for Action Against Cancer has been launched. This sets out to integrate all EU countries’ cancer plans. The European Commission says the aim is to reduce the “burden” by 15 percent by 2020.
The patroness of the action plan is Belgium’s Princess Mathilde. She said: “Long term sustainable action on cancer in different fields (prevention, screening, research and medicine) continues to develop. And this is where the European Partnership with its Action Plan Against Cancer that we launch this morning comes in.” The main proposals under the partnership concern health promotion and early detection, identification and dissemination of good practices in health care, priorities for cancer research, health information and data.
