Hollywood star Patrick Swayze has died from cancer at the age of 57.
The actor who was best known for the films “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost” announced last year he was suffering from pancreatic cancer but he still went on working. His most recent role was in a cable television series “The Beast”. Swayze starred in almost 50 films but began his career as a dancer. He studied ballet in New York before appearing in the musical “Grease” on Broadway. He eventually moved to the big screen and it was little wonder that one of his most memorable roles was in a film that capitalised on his dancing background. “Dirty Dancing” was the low-budget film that became a pop cult favourite and turned Swayze into an international star. Numerous box office hits followed, including the beyond-the-grave love story “Ghost” with Demi Moore.
