Israeli President Shimon Peres has resumed normal duties despite briefly collapsing at a lecture in Tel Aviv on Saturday.

Earlier, the 86-year-old Nobel peace laureate held talks with US special envoy George Mitchell after being released by doctors with a clean bill of health. At the meeting, Peres gave all the appearance of being well. The Polish-born 1994 Peace Prize winner was rushed in for checks and kept in hospital on Saturday overnight. Doctors said Peres was apparently overcome by the summer heat but quickly regained consciousness.More about: ,
