The man described as the “Lion of the Senate,” Teddy Kennedy, will be laid to rest today. The 77-year-old veteran politician lost his battle with brain cancer last week. He will be buried alongside his assassinated brothers, John and Bobby, at Arlington National Cemetery outside Washington.
Before that, prominent figures from across American society will gather in Boston to remember a man whose death has been treated like the passing of royalty. President Obama will deliver a eulogy to someone he has described as “an inspiration.” “As we drove through the Boston that he loved, and saw the thousands of people who loved him back, I realised that it was our final history trip together,” said his niece Caroline Kennedy. “Now Teddy has become a part of history and we have become the ones who have to do all the things he would have done, for us, for each other, and for our country.” You can watch Teddy Kennedy’s funeral and President Obama’s eulogy live on Euronews from 16.30 CET.
