Noel Gallagher says he is quitting British rock group Oasis because he can no longer work with his brother Liam.
The volatile pair have fallen out many times over the years, but this time the split looks final. On the band’s website, Noel announced his departure with, he said, “some sadness and great relief.”
Rumours were rife about a possible-break up after Oasis failed to appear at a festival in southeast England last Sunday. They pulled out of a performance in Paris last night.
The band, from Manchester, was a key part of the so-called Britpop movement in the 1990s, enjoying a string of hits. Their rock-and-roll lifestyle also meant they were never far from the headlines.
Whether or not the Gallagher brothers ever patch up their differences, their place in pop music history is guaranteed.
