Lufthansa has been told by the European Union Competition Commissioner that it can take over Austrian Airlines.
To get permission for the deal the German carrier had agreed to hand over airport slots to rivals on routes from Vienna to Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, Cologne and Brussels.
