Ahead of his funeral tomorrow, the United States and the city of Boston is paying final homage to the late Edward Kennedy.
Earlier, the hearse carrying the coffin of the ‘Lion of the Senate’ was brought to the Massachusetts capital from the Kennedy family home. The journey began three days of mourning for the Senator whose death on Tuesday from cancer at the age of 77 prompted a wave of tributes from home and abroad. Before travelling to Boston, the Kennedy family held a private Mass for the clan’s patriarch. He now lies in state at JFK Presidential Library so people can file past his coffin, ahead of Saturday’s funeral service where President Barack Obama is expected to read a eulogy. For many, the passing of the towering figure in the Democratic Party is being seen as an end of an era in American politics. Kennedy will be buried at Washington’s Arlington National Cemetery, next to his brothers John and Robert.
