The suspected hijackers of the Arctic Sea cargo ship have been flown to Russia. Most of the all-Russian crew were repatriated by military plane as well.Their alleged captors — two Latvians, two Russians and four Estonians — were taken to the high-security Lefortovo prison in Moscow. Russian warships found the merchant ship in the Atlantic Ocean off the Cape Verde islands on Monday. Four of the Arctic Sea’s crew of 15 are said to have stayed behind with the ship. This was after having been officially unaccounted for since July 24. Sceptics wonder whether behind the piracy story there is another story. A Russian investigative journalist has written she is convinced that, rather than commercial timber, a secret cargo had been loaded in Kaliningrad. Little has been said about the rescue, although, as the mystery developed, news media were told that many countries had become involved in the search.
