GM may buy small Peugeot stake Ford says that in July it increased the number of cars it sold in the US for the first month since November 2007. Sales rose 2.3 percent on July last year. The US government’s scrappage programme – known as “Cash for Clunkers” – boosted sales. It started on July 24. In the first half of this year US car industry sales have fallen to their lowest in nearly 30 years.
