Israeli police have reportedly recommended that the ultra-nationalist foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman be charged with corruption and money laundering.
The recommendation is to be presented in the coming days to the state prosecutor Menahem Mazouz. He will make a decision whether Lieberman has to answer the charges. If found guilty the foreign minister will be forced to resign. Lieberman is head of the ultra-nationalist party Israel Beiteinou. He has been under police scrutiny for several years. He has also been interviewed on a number of occasions by the police fraud department.
