Photos of the two victims of yesterday’s bomb attack on the Spanish island of Mallorca have been released – the two officers died after an explosive device was placed under their car. Spain’s security forces are on high alert as the Basque separatist group ETA, which is being blamed for the attack, marks the 50th anniversary of its foundation today. The explosion, the second in two days being attributed to the group, has outraged the country’s political leadership.

Spanish PM José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero: “I express today the feeling of all citizens. I want to condemn this villainy, with a lot of pain and anger and a determination. The (thoughts of the) government and all of Spanish society are today with their families, their friends and their colleagues.”More about: , ,
