Czech politicians bare flesh in holiday hunt for votes

Czechs heading for the holiday of Croatia are being treated to some unusual sights from back home - billboard pictures of politicians in swimming trunks bidding for election.
The series of ads line the highway taking Czech motorists to their summer break. It is part of the campaign by former Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek to get back into power in October’s vote.
After the notoriety of a naked photograph taken during his stay at Silvio Berlusconi’s villa, the former premier has got down to his swimming trunks to try to get back into power.
Croatian Communication and Marketing expert Aleksandra Kolaric said: “For us in Croatia, this is an unusual campaign – the first time we have seen a political party from one country advertising in another.“
She said it seemed the problem was the close proximity of the election in early October, with a relatively short time for securing votes.
Despite the relaxed campaign setting, the stakes are high for Topolanek, whose centre-right minority administration collapsed in March, halfway though the Czech EU Presidency.
