German consumer sentiment rises

Good news for German retailers as consumer sentiment there rose to its highest level in over a year this month.

A monthly survey of some 2,000 Germans by the GfK market research group found that as inflation eases shoppers are more willing to spend and their expectations of both the economy and their earnings increased. Consumer prices were up by just 0.1 percent in June and were unchanged in May.More about: ,
