Euro zone loans weak


Loans to businesses and private individuals in the euro zone grew at the slowest annual pace on record in June.

Economists said that seems to reflect reduced demand rather than an unwillingness by banks to lend money. The latest figures from the European Central Bank showed business loans were particularly weak at a 2.8 percent annual growth rate, compared with May’s 4.4 percent.
