Winds fan flames in Spanish wildfires

There is no end in sight to Spain’s forest fire nightmare with strong winds fanning flames that have already proved deadly. In Aragon, more than 8,000 hectares have been destroyed, with 1,500 people forced to flee. Rail travellers have not been spared, with disruption on the fast line between Barcelona and Madrid.

The battle against wildfires is being waged on several fronts across Spain. Much attention has focused on Catalonia in the northeast where four firefighters died and two were seriously injured on Tuesday. Two days on, the fire that killed them in a national park continues to rage.
