Croatian EU process further delayed

The European Union has called off a round of accession talks with Croatia which had been scheduled for Friday. The reason is Zagreb’s continued failure to resolve a border dispute with EU member Slovenia. It is another setback for Croatian hopes of concluding the accession talks by the end of this year.

Slovenia wants access to international waters in the Adriatic Sea, where the maritime borders of Italy, Croatia and Slovenia jigsaw together. Sweden, which takes over the EU presidency in July, does not plan to intervene, as the bloc sees the row as a bilateral matter.More about: ,
