Worsening Italian jobs figures


Recession hit Italy’s jobless rate rose in the first quarter to its highest level for three years.

The number of people in work fell for the first time since 1995. The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate increased to 7.3 percent from seven percent in the previous three months. Economists are predicting a jobless rate above nine percent by the end of this year.
