The leaders of China and Russia have hailed what they call flourishing ties which they say have defied the economic crisis at a meeting near Moscow.
With world economies hit by the global downturn, China has become Russia’s biggest trade partner. This includes oil deals between the two countries worth around 100 billion dollars. Hu’s state visit to Russia included two summits of developing world countries covering global trade, security and greater representation for emerging markets on the world stage. The Chinese leader, who also took time to lay a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier in Moscow, has invited prime minister Vladimir Putin to Beijing in the autumn.
