As the search for more bodies and debris from Air France 447 continues over the Atlantic off Brazil, the plane maker Airbus has appealed for patience in speculating what caused the disaster.
Brazilian and French search operations have recovered 43 bodies so far out of the 228 people on board. The French ambassador to Brazil was among those on the quayside when the remains of the jet’s tail fin arrived in Recife for examination. Reports from Brazil say autopsies on bodies recovered so far suggest the passengers died quickly when the plane broke up in mid-air. No evidence of a bomb has been found and there is speculation the plane’s speed sensors failed in severe turbulence and caused the pilots to accidentally fly too fast or too slow causing it to crash. But until the jet’s flight recorders are found the cause of the crash of flight 447 remains a mystery.
