The UN Security Council has unanimously approved expanded sanctions and a trade and arms embargo against North Korea in response to a nuclear test on May 25.It means that all weapons exports from North Korea and most arms imports into the communist state are banned. Both China and Russia supported the US-drafted resolution. In the past they had been reluctant to support punitive measures. The resolution is now binding under international law.
