The head of the eurozone’s finance body says he hopes to remain in the post despite a gentle reshuffle in his national government.
Jean Claude Juncker is currently both the Prime Minister and Finance Minister of Luxembourg as well as president of Eurogroup. He recently said he would step down as Finance Minister if his party wins parliamentary elections on Sunday. That put a question mark over his role in Eurogroup, which is made up chiefly of finance ministers. But Juncker said on Thursday that he would retain some parts of Luxembourg’s financial portfolio and that he would like to stay on as Eurogroup chairman.
