Hospital fire kills eight in Turkey

world news

| |

A fire in a Turkish hospital has claimed the lives of eight people.

The blaze broke out overnight in the hospital’s scanner department, forcing the evacuation of more than forty others. But authorities say there was no risk to other patients. The incident occurred at the Sevket Yilmaz state hospital in the northwestern Turkish city of Bursa. Smoke from the fire spread to its intensive care unit but it is unclear whether the victims who died had suffered from smoke inhalation or from a power cut to their life support systems as a result of the blaze.More about: ,
