It’s easy to pay by mobile phone thanks to a new technology called “NFC – Near Field Communication”. Using a mobile phone equipped with a special microchip, you touch the phone on the unit in the shop and payment is made electronically.

In Japan, M-Payment is widespread and mobile phones are on the way to replacing loose change as well as credit cards. 45 million phones incorporating this technology have already been sold. Tube passes, plane tickets, groceries… the Japanese can buy nearly everything using their mobiles. The system is now being tested in Strasburg. More than 500 users and 200 shops are taking part and so far, 9 out of 10 people like this way of paying. University students in Nice are also testing the system.More about: , ,
