The International Monetary Fund has said recent economic data from China is “very encouraging” but it believes the numbers may have been distorted by the Lunar New Year holiday.

So it wants more information from the months ahead to see if the rebound is sustainable. The IMF’s latest forecast is that China’s economy will grow only 6.5 percent this year; Beijing’s prediction is for eight percent growth.More about: ,
