One of the most instantly recognisable titles in English fiction, ‘Wuthering Heights’ arrives as a musical at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith this week, but it is more Bollywood than Kate Bush. Theatre company Tamasha’s relocates Bronte’s classic 19th-century tale of thwarted, illegitimate English love to 1770s Rajasthan, where for Cathy and Heathcliff read Shakuntala and Krishan, and there is no genteel singing round a piano. Le Mag goes to the rehearsals.
