Just across town from its fictional setting, the latest religious mystery blockbuster gets its world premiere in Rome tonight. ‘Angels and Demons’ is the sequel to ‘The ‘Da Vinci Code.’ Dan Brown’s follow-up again stars Tom Hanks as symbologist Robert Langdon, this time playing an unlikely Vatican ally to foil a shadowy religious group. The plot is full of twists and turns which seem to have overwhelmed its star:“I do believe in mystery,” he said. “How I got here being one of them. Every day I wake up and I try to figure out what the heck is going on and how do I make it through to the end of the day. I worship it, I embrace it and I can’t wait for the mystery to sweep over me.” After exposing a Church cover-up in ‘The Da Vinci Code,’ ‘Angels and Demons’ sees Langdon recruited by the Vatican when the Pope dies and four cardinals are kidnapped. He must decipher the clues to foil an ancient secret society called the Illuminati.
