Deflation returns to Japan?


Japanese unemployment has hit a four-year high, and consumer prices have fallen for the first time in 18 months. It indicates economic recovery in the world’s second-largest economy, when it comes, may be weak.

The jump in jobless Japanese was the biggest in 42 years, and household spending has now fallen for a record 13 months. But factory output has risen for the first time in six months, and companies say there is more to come.
