GM on brink of washing its hands of Opel

General Motors could be about to shed its controlling interest in Opel for nothing, as long as any new investor promises to put money into a new company formed from its European operations, according to reports.

GM is talking to 6 financial and industrial groups about taking a stake, each paying 500 million euros to GM for a share. But that money will be injected directly back into Opel. Saab may also go for free.More about:
